The Role As an Automotive /HGV & Refrigeration Unit Mechanic, you will be responsible for the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of commercial vehicles and refrigeration systems, ensuring vehicles remain safe, reliable, and fully operational. Key Responsibilities: Perform computer diagnostics on HGVs, commercial vehicles, and refrigerated vehicles. Diagnose, service, and repair refrigeration units installed on vans, trucks, and refrigerated trailers. Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs. Repair and maintain engines, gearboxes, drivetrains, and other vehicle systems. Replace service and wear components, including brakes, filters, batteries, tyres, and suspension parts. Carry out routine servicing in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications. Perform preventative maintenance and technical inspections. Prepare vehicles for statutory roadworthiness and technical testing. Complete job documentation and communicate effectively with the workshop team. Candidate Requirements Essential: Several years of experience as an Automotive Technician, HGV Technician, Commercial Vehicle Technician, or Refrigeration Unit Technician. Proven experience diagnosing and repairing refrigeration units used in commercial vehicles or refrigerated trailers. Ability to work independently and troubleshoot faults effectively. Good communicative level of English. Full Category B driving licence. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Desirable: Technical or vocational qualification in Automotive Engineering or a related discipline. Experience with vehicle diagnostics systems. Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and hydraulics. Availability to work occasional Saturdays. What’s on Offer?
