Werk & IK are helping airports across Europe to meet the rising demands for baggage handlers to beat the summer rush. As part of our work we are recruiting people for Düsseldorf airport, Germany’s third busiest airport for a short term contract this summer.
We have intakes for teams each Monday through August and September.
The job:
Baggage Handling. As soon as bags are checked in at the airport they arrive into the baggage hall, this is you’re your role begins. Bags are sorted onto carts for the correct aircraft and airline, some are priority, some are fragile, and some are very odd shapes. These are moved to the gates by truck or conveyor ready for loading. To load bags, they need to be arranged in the hold to maximise space and spread weight so in a team you work to either load from outside or arrange bags in the hold of the plane. This is always a fast turnaround to ensure that planes meet their scheduled departures and passengers are relocated with their luggage when the get to their destination or gate.
Its physical work, bags can weigh up to 25KGs and you’ll be moving a lot of them.
You’ll get training and then work four days a week on 10 hour shifts over three weeks,
