Role As an HGV and refrigeration unit mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing commercial vehicles and refrigeration systems, ensuring that vehicles remain safe, reliable, and fully operational. Key Responsibilities: - Perform computer diagnostics on HGVs, commercial vehicles, and refrigerated units. - Diagnose, service, and repair refrigeration units installed in vans, trucks, and refrigerated trailers. - Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs. - Repair and maintain engines, gearboxes, drivetrains, and other vehicle systems. - Replace service and consumable components, including brakes, filters, batteries, tires, and suspension parts. - Conduct routine servicing according to manufacturer requirements. - Perform preventive maintenance and technical inspections. - Prepare vehicles for statutory technical inspections and tests. - Complete work documentation and communicate effectively with the workshop team. Candidate Requirements Required: - Several years of experience as an automotive technician, HGV technician, commercial vehicle technician, or refrigeration unit technician. - Proven experience in diagnosing and repairing refrigeration units used in commercial vehicles or refrigerated trailers. - Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively. - Good command of the English language. - Full category B driving license. - Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Desired: - Technical or vocational education in automotive engineering or a related field. - Experience with vehicle diagnostic systems. - Knowledge of vehicle electrical and hydraulic systems. - Availability to work on some Saturdays.
